Heller Homestead Nature Trail

In partnership with the Saucon Creek Watershed Association and Lower Saucon Township, this project is underway to improve the meadow loop trail and educational signage at Heller Homestead Park on Friedensville Road just outside of Hellertown.

This site was the home of the Saucon Creek Watershed Association’s meetings for many years, and as a historical resource, it is important to the community, which is working to upgrade and preserve the building and its grounds in different ways.

This project is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2026 to improve the overall condition of the loop trail, signage and habitat at the Heller Homestead Park site. Just down the street from Water Street Park and the Saucon Rail Trail, this site will boast 10 new educational signs (you can see the existing, deteriorated signs being replaced, below), a new nature journaling station, native pollinator garden and tree plantings, and trail improvements for residents and visitors to enjoy. Signs will be spread throughout the park along the walking trail that runs parallel to the Saucon Creek, providing information about the native species that may be found in the area. Come visit this summer to see the progress and check back to see the finished product next year!
