About the BHCWA

The Bertsch, Hokendauqua, Catasauqua Watershed Association was established in 2009 by a group of concerned citizens, local officials, and members of the Northampton County Conservation District.  It was incorporated in 2010 as a 501(c)3 non-profit.  It encompasses the townships of Lehigh, Allen, East Allen, Hanover, and Moore as well as the boroughs of Catasauqua, North Catasauqua, Northampton, and Walnutport.

Our formal mission statement is to promote stewardship of, protect, enhance, and restore the watersheds that are tributary to the Lehigh River from the East between Catasauqua Borough and the Lehigh Gap.

Today the BHCWA continues to work to educate the public in watershed conservation, promote best management practices, host workshops and clean-ups, and establish and maintain several project sites. We have worked in several schools to connect the youth more directly with their environment and host a community day every summer to support local vendors and engage families with watershed activities.

New members are welcome, as well as volunteers to help with various initiatives from stream bank restoration to programs for families and individuals.
