Little Lehigh Watershed Stewards Stake & Weeding

Saturday, December 4, 9:00 am – noon RSVP to salderfer@gmail.com

An exciting opportunity to help out some young trees that were planted about a year ago and have been left to fend for themselves ever since. There are dozens of seedlings that were planted in a Lower Macungie Twp. open space, near the Little Lehigh, at the intersections of Spring Creek Rd and Mill Creek Rd. Between winds and flood waters, many are diagonal or horizontal instead of vertical.

The plan is to meet at the location at 9:00 AM to give these trees a hand. There are a lot of weeds crowding the personal space of these little guys. So we want  to first pull the grass and weeds from their planting space to eliminate some of their competition. Then we will re-install their tree tubes. It’s not terribly strenuous work, and we should be finished by 11:00 or 11:30 depending on how many hands we have helping.

Location map can be found on the Little Lehigh Watershed Group page.

Bath Borough Live Stake Planting

Thursday, November 19, 2020 – 1PM to 3PM

Planting live stakes along the Monocacy with Bath Borough.

Park at Keystone Park off of Green Street in Bath. Park next to the pavilion.

We need some folks with waders, hip boots, or tall waterproof boots to help place the live stakes in the banks, so bring them if you have them. Bring your face mask and water bottle, and dress for the weather. It will likely be chilly at this time of year. And please bring your own water bottle if you’ll need something to drink.

We’ll be providing the tools and supplies, and we’ll provide some instruction on how to plant live stakes. They are an excellent way to get a root system going in eroding stream banks, and they’re very easy to plant.
